Pokémon TCG Live
At COLOR Creative, I was a designer tasked with designing Pokémon TCG Live app store screenshots, including a multitude of localizations.
I enjoy the challenge of assets like these because the design must accommodate varying lengths of text in different languages, and you have to manage potentially hundreds of designs. Creating efficient workflows to stay organized and iterate rapidly by utilizing Photoshop smart objects is a must. Finding a font size in which none of it falls out of bounds, yet stays consistently positioned and legible sets you up for success. These are some of the challenges I love.
The design started with the hexagon elements of the logo. Leveraging the existing branding of the dark red vs. blue hexagons, I created bottom/top backgrounds to provide legibility and emphasis to the CTA text. Adding smaller hexagons on the sides to create vertical movement, driving your eyes to the gameplay screenshot, as well as providing a little bit of depth as if revealing the game’s battlefield beneath.
